PVS is owned and operated by the Muslim Community Center, Inc (MCC), a non-profit religious organization. The organization operates exclusively for charitable, educational and religious purposes within the meaning of 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or corresponding section of any future Federal Tax Code. Ghalib Mannan, M.D., President

Infectious Disease Physician in Private Practice since 2001. Dr. Mannan is a graduate of University of Wales College of Medicine, United Kingdom. Residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases from Medical College of Pennsylvania & Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Mannan is also a volunteering physician at the Memphis Muslim Medical Clinic.

Asif Ahmed, M.D., Vice President

Attending Otolaryngology's Head and Neck Surgeon at the Jackson Clinic Professional Association Jackson, TN. Dr. Ahmed graduated from Aga Khan University Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Ahmed completed his residency training from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2006.

Mohammad Iqbal Shafi, Ph.D., Treasurer

Professor of Biology and Chair of the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at Lemoyne-Owen College. Dr. Shafi has a Ph.D. in Ecology (Biology) from University of Toronto, and one Year Post-Doctorate experience at the University of New Burnswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Imad Abdullah  Secretary

 

Mr. Abdullah is an attorney in the Memphis Office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. Mr. Abdullah concentrates his practice in the area of business litigation, labor and employment law, and the defense of physicians in malpractice actions.

 

 


Mehmet Kocak

 

a Senior biostatistician at St. Jude and  Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium since 2002. Currently is working on his dissertation towards a Ph.D. degree in statistics at University of Memphis.  Mr. Kocak received his Master’s of Science degree in Applied Statistics from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2000.

 

Abdul-Alim Khandekar, M.D.

Dr. Khandekar is a cardiothoracic surgeon in the Memphis Area. Dr. Khandekar moved to Memphis in 1975. He served in the Shura of Muslim Society of Memphis for more than 10 years and as president of the society for more than six years. Dr. Khandekar is a member of many Muslim and medical organizations.

Khan Iftekharuddin, Ph.D.

Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Memphis since 2000. Dr. Iftekharuddin received B.S. degree from Bangladesh Institute of Technology in Engineering with a M.S. and Ph.D. degree from University of Dayton in Electrical Engineering.
